How to improve your Squarespace Blog

1. General Settings:

In the Settings menu, select Advanced > Security . Under Access Control , enable Per-Domain Password Protection option and pick a strong password for your blog. This helps prevent random visitors (who don't know your website name) from accessing your blog by guessing the URL if you have access to it memorized or have it saved somewhere else. You can also disable XML-RPC feature here to protect against automated traffic, such as that generated by plugins like Jetpack Commentluv , Akismet and Disqus .    Here I suggest you create a backup of all changes, so click on Export Configuration File button at the bottom of this page to download settings file in this format:

Next, open the settings.php file with a text editor (e.g. Notepad) and upload the file from Step 2 on your new blog's Admin page on Squarespace to overwrite the existing settings data there , just to be sure you don't lose any of your preferences .

How do I write a blog on Squarespace?

It is very easy to write and publish a blog post on Squarespace. Click "Get Started" to sign up or log in. Navigate to the Home tab, where you'll find all your posts, e-mail subscribers, no new posts message if this property is empty or notifications for what's coming soon if this property is not empty. To create a new blog post, simply follow these three steps:

Click on the blue Blog Post button;

Give it a title using the box;

Type in your content using the text block below. When done typing, click Publish as draft (so other people can't see it) or Publish Now at the bottom right corner of the page.

If you want to add a slideshow to your blog page, go to the Slideshows tab and follow these steps: Click on the blue Add Slide Show button; Give your slide show a title using the box; Upload photos by clicking Add Photos; Lastly, click Publish. If you want to add an audio podcast (or disable), go to Settings > Audio Blog from left menu and click the appropriate button. Do you want to add comments ? Go to Settings > Discussion and click on the Disqus option (or disable).

If you don't know where something is, try identifying which tab it's in. For example, if you're looking for your dashboard , a good place to start is on the home tab.

If you're looking for anything else and can't find it on the Squarespace home tab, try using your browser's search function ( CTRL + F ) as everything is not always in plain view.
